We’re built for the challenge.

Complexity is where our best work begins.
Built Environs was founded on a simple idea: there’s always a better way to build – and we’ve been finding smarter, more innovative ways ever since.
We started in 1987 with three tradesmen, one shared phone, and a clear point of view: construction could be smarter, more collaborative, and built around people. That hasn’t changed. We still challenge the standard way of doing things – bringing the right people together early, solving problems properly, and building strong partnerships that last. Today, we pair that mindset with digital engineering, innovation and new methodologies to improve certainty and performance. From small beginnings to complex, city-shaping projects, we stay focused on what matters at the end of every build – the places people rely on every day, where life happens, work gets done, and communities come together.
Today, we deliver projects across Australia and New Zealand, supported by teams located across both countries. We’re part of the McConnell Dowell Group.

We deliver practical, measurable environmental, social and governance (ESG) outcomes by reducing environmental impact, creating social value, and maintaining strong governance across every project and region.

Our Carbon Reduction Roadmap sets a clear path to operational net zero by 2030, with measurable reductions in direct emissions tracked across all projects.
Proven outcomes include a 442-tonne reduction in carbon emissions in FY25, waste diversion rates above 95% and emissions savings delivered through integrated solar technologies.
We are actively transitioning to Scope 3 carbon reporting, extending our measurement and accountability across our supply chain and the full lifecycle of our projects.
As our obligations under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) come into effect, we are well-positioned to meet disclosure requirements including the identification and management of climate-related risks and opportunities. We consider impacts on natural environments and biodiversity as part of our planning and delivery processes, with site-specific initiatives to minimise disturbance and support positive ecological outcomes.
-
Safety is our first value and our most fundamental obligation. Our systems, processes, and culture are focused on ensuring everyone goes home without harm – every day, on every site. We create social value through safe delivery, local participation, and meaningful community outcomes. This includes investing in employment, apprenticeships, and supply chain opportunities that strengthen local communities, alongside engagement with First Nations businesses and social enterprises.
Across our group, more than $44 million was invested in social procurement in the last financial year. Our initiatives are tailored to each project and shaped by community and stakeholder needs, with a focus on minimising disruption, maintaining open communication, and delivering measurable social outcomes.

Our governance framework supports consistent, accountable, and transparent project delivery across every part of our business. Our operations are underpinned by ISO-certified management systems across quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), information security (ISO 27001), and safety (ISO 45001), providing a rigorous and independently verified foundation for how we work. A Group Code of Business Conduct, endorsed by the Board and applied across all employees, sets clear expectations for ethical behaviour, compliance, and professional standards.
We meet our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act and participate in the annual WGEA reporting cycle under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, tracking and reporting performance across key gender equality indicators. Governance, ESG, and operational performance are monitored and reported through established systems, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement across our projects, operations, and supply chain.
Bringing the right people together to think bigger.
Our leadership team sets the direction for how we work, bringing a consistent, collaborative and solutions-focused approach to complex project delivery.
Values that shape every decision.
Our purpose is to provide a better life. Our values guide how we work, how we make decisions, and how we deliver, every day.
-
Above all else. Every day. We take care of ourselves, everyone around us, and the environments we work in.

-
Acting fairly and keeping our promises is how we build trust. We take the high road. We’re respectful, ethical, open, and we do what is right.

-
We focus on our customers’ goals, bringing a responsive and considered approach to every project.

-
We collaborate every day. Supporting and including each other. Sharing experience, ideas and expertise. Our diversity makes us a better team.

-
We apply our skills, embrace our passion and commit to best practices. That’s how we deliver results and create better together.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan reflects our commitment to building respectful relationships and strengthening understanding with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our ongoing commitment to building strong, respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our Reflect RAP formalised this commitment, followed by our Innovate RAP, which concluded in June 2025 and continued to value the unique experiences, skills and perspectives of Australia’s First Peoples.
We are now developing our next RAP in partnership with Reconciliation Australia, focused on deepening understanding and awareness while supporting continued growth through knowledge and diversity. This progression reflects our vision for a more inclusive and equitable future for the communities in which we work.
