Family Christmas in the Park Event a huge success

The first Family Christmas in the Park event, which was held on Saturday in Light Square, sponsored by Greaton and Built Environs was a huge success with over 300 people attending the festivities.

Two charities were the big winners – two car loads worth of toy and food donations were collected for The Salvation Army’s Hamper of Hope Appeal and over $1,000 was raised for Rotary from the gold coin Aussie Christmas BBQ donation and various raffles.

Dorothy Novak, National Marketing Manager at Greaton said, “Our first Christmas event was a huge success. The crowd was big and attracted a large age demographic including toddlers, families and grandparents. The Santa show, fairies and elves entertained the children for hours and added much colour to the fun filled event. Everyone played a part and contributed to the Christmas cheer and donations for two very worthy South Australian charities.

“It was pleasing to give back to the community and help the less fortunate during the festive season. The Family Christmas in the Park event will become a must attend annual December event.”

Captain Matt Reeve from The Salvation Army City Salvos says, “We are very grateful for the toys and food collected at the Christmas event which will enable us to bring hope and joy to families who are struggling at this special time of the year.”

Built Environs New Business and Strategy Manager, Will Chapman added, “Built Environs is very proud to be associated with this event and to support the City Salvo’s. We were overwhelmed with the generosity shown on the day and wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas.”

Activities included a free Santa show, fairies and elves greeting the children, Christmas carols, jumping castle, mega slide, face painting, lolly competitions and Christmas raffles. SA Metropolitan Fire Brigade and St Johns Ambulance also attended the event and gave live demonstrations and ‘’jump on board’ opportunities.

Adelaide West End Association, Commercial and Legal, AC Connection and realestate.com.au also helped contribute to the event with raffle donations and monetary support.
