World-class infrastructure providing contemporary facilities for Adelaide's north
Built Environs was the Managing Contractor for the Modbury Hospital Upgrade – one of the most complex hospital redevelopments undertaken in South Australia.
This program of work was focussed on improving access to patient care and enhancing the design of the hospital to meet contemporary needs and models of care, delivering clinical upgrades to high priority areas, as well as key infrastructure and building services upgrades. Refurbishment within the existing buildings and new build works included façade remediation, seismic structural upgrade and building services.
The project was fast-tracked and multi-staged, with 100% of the 13,000 m2 work in scope directly above, beside or below operational hospital areas, while the hospital and associated health services remained operational throughout construction. Careful planning, staging and consultation with local hospital stakeholders was key to mitigating disruption.
Creative Construction
Improved communication with project animation
An advanced project animation was developed (far more detailed than the industry standard) that not only demonstrated how the works would be delivered in terms of the construction methodology but also how the pedestrian and traffic management would occur to maintain access to the Hospital’s front of house area at the various stages of construction.
This animation was developed from the outset to be a tool for the Hospital to share via their website or via a QR code with patients, staff, and other stakeholders to improve communication during the project.
