Otahuhu logistics precinct expands warehouse facilities

Built Environs has successfully designed and constructed three new warehouse facilities, office space and mixed pavement areas at the Otahuhu Logistics Estate in New Zealand’s industrial heartland.

The Otahuhu estate benefits from its close proximity to key infrastructure and major arterial networks, including the Southern and South-Western Motorway, Metro Port and an independent rail link.

The three warehouse facilities, ranging in size from 4,000 m2 to 21,000 m2, have been built surrounding existing operational facilities, including rolling stock (rail). Along with each warehouse is its own two-storey office space, enabling efficient and effective operations.

Fast Facts:

  • 17.2 hectare estate with direct rail link into site
  • Three new warehouse facilities
  • 33,000 m2 of warehousing
  • 2,250 m2 of office space
  • 19,000 m2 of hardstands
Creative Construction

As the Design and Construct contractor, we championed the implementation of Safety in Design practices throughout the design phase. An example included Built Environs challenging the original design which had the boundary walls cladded presenting challenges around safe work environments. Following a risk analysis, the boundary walls were changed to full height concrete panels.
