Built Environs’ project team successfully delivered the upgrade of Modbury Hospital as part of the South Australian Government’s Transforming Health initiative.
The upgrade included a purpose-built rehabilitation centre, SpARC, with a gym, hydrotherapy pool, consulting rooms, and a therapy garden, as well as the demolition and refurbishment of the Level 3 ward, increasing the number of rehabilitation beds from 20 to 52. A covered link way connects the new building to the existing hospital, and the building features a 10kw solar panel system, solar heating for the pool, domestic hot water and a gas-powered VRV, helping it to achieve a 5 star IGRAT rating.
The team ensured the hospital and its associated health services remained operational throughout the project, whilst also achieving a defect-free handover at each stage. The project was completed under budget, with the final stage achieving an early handover.
